WHAT WILL DMI DO FOR US?
DMI will assess your current situation - along with your funding needs and goals - and develop and implement a customised programme to achieve these goals.
As a full service consultancy, we are able to provide the entire spectrum of related services - including strategic planning, budgeting, prospect identification, creative, print, mailing processing, website development and detailed analyses of results.
Successful fundraising is the result of team effort; our consultants will work in partnership with your staff to build a highly effective and sustainable programme.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Because each programme is unique, it's difficult to state a set amount. We charge on an hourly basis for our time, which could vary from full-time to interim mentoring, depending on the complexity of the campaign and the services required.
In addition, we charge set rates for materials and out-purchases, such as paper, printing, list rental and postage. All fees are agreed upon before work commences. Please contact us for specific quotes for your project or campaign.
CAN'T YOU JUST TAKE A % OF THE FUNDS RAISED?
As fundraising consultants abiding by the Code of the Southern Africa Institute of Fundraising, we believe that it is unethical to accept fees based on a commission or percentage of the money raised.
We do not raise the money for you. Rather, we show you how to raise your own money, from your own constituencies. The consultancy has no contact whatsoever with donations; these are a private transaction between the donor and the organisation.
CAN YOU HELP US RAISE FUNDS OVERSEAS?
DMI has mounted successful direct mail campaigns to the USA, UK and Europe on behalf of several local organisations. In addition, we have experience in preparing materials and training development staff seeking overseas support through face-to-face Major Gift solicitation.
However, the strong British pound or American dollar should not be seen as a quick fix solution to funding needs; only certain local causes have sufficient appeal for overseas markets.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR LISTS?
Since privacy of prospective donors is important, we use only professional list brokers in South Africa and overseas to identify carefully targeted individuals, with a proven affinity for specific causes, who have indicated their willingness to accept appeals through direct mail or e-mail.
Lists are cleaned on a regular basis to ensure minimum wastage.
